The Applied Biodynamics Educational Program is a 2-year course for Farmers and Market Gardeners that provides a comprehensive educational and hands on program on the essential of applied biodynamics.


Course 1 Foundation of Applied Biodynamic Practices

Advanced Biodynamic Practice and Steiner's Economics

Course 3 Making and Using Biodynamic Preparations

Course Instructors:

Gena M. Nonini - Land steward and owner of Marian Farms. Gena has over 12 years of experience in practical biodynamic production, specializing in fruit, nut and vegetable production. She has worked internationally with farmers and growers to grow consumer education and agricultural industry practices in the areas of Demeter certification and biodynamics.

Marian Farms (MF) is a diversified, Demeter-certified Biodynamic horticultural enterprise located in the central San Joaquin Valley of California. Family owned and operated since 1990 and Demeter Certified since 1995, Marian Farms is committed to creating an ecological farming system while working with the dynamic spiritual and life forces in nature and the cosmos. MF believes these endeavors lead towards the healing of the earth and ourselves.

MF signature products include Thompson seedless raisins and table grapes, peaches and citrus. MF also supplies specialty vegetables to retailers and restaurants. MF has a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) fruit and vegetable program which ships throughout the United States. A very unique aspect of Marian Farms is the production of distilled spirits for use in herbal tinctures, homeopathic medicinals, and body care products.

Hugh Courtney is the Executive Director of the Josephine Porter Institute. Hugh has over 25 years of experience in Biodynamic preparation making. He will be conducting the educational forum on site at the Josephine Porter Institute, where participants will experience making biodynamic preparations.

The Josephine Porter Institute is a 501 ( c ) 3 non- profit organization dedicated to being a reliable source for biodynamic preparations for the beginning or seasoned practitioner; as an education center for all biodynamic practitioners as they begin to make their own preparations; and as a research venue which focuses specifically on the BD preparations
