Raisins
Sun-dried grapes, or raisins, have been prepared and eaten for thousands of years. California is now the world's largest producer of raisins. Fresno (in the Central San Joaquin Valley) is the center of U.S. raisin production - the birthplace of the industry boom in the 1870s after a heat wave dried the grape crop on the vine. More than three thousand years ago people were picking grapes and laying them out in the sun to dry - a process that has virtually remained unchanged. Today, most raisins are sun-dried, though some dried in dehydrators.

What makes Marian Farms' raisins unique? Marian farms raisins are made from the very grapes that make their biodynamic table grapes so popular – the delicious, juicy Thompson Seedless grapes. "Certified organic safflower oil" is sprayed on the raisins to assist in the "flow ability" - they do not clump together, making for easy pouring and scooping. The attention to detail of Biodynamic agricultural practices, careful handling and quality packing, storage and shipment, serves to produce the sweet tasting raisin our customers have come to expect. Marian Farms raisins have the vital "life forces" that reflect the art of Biodynamics.

Grapes

Thompson Seedless Grapes are thin-skinned, sweet and juicy, and can be eaten fresh or dried. Scottish immigrant William Thompson brought the first Thompson Seedless grapes to California in 1875. At that time they were called Lady de Coverly; but were later to bare his name. Today thousands of acres of Thompson Seedless Grapes have been planted in California for the production of raisins, wine and table grapes.

What makes Marian Farms' grapes unique?
Marian Farms differentiates their grapes by using biodynamic agricultural practices and by hand picking their grapes to perfection. Since grapes are a berry they do not continue to ripen once they are harvested. Marian Farms takes care to harvest them when they are at their sweetest, and ensures that the customer receives ripe, full and attractive clusters. The grapes are picked when they are a translucent green-yellow or have a golden-amber color. Marian Farms' grapes are also unique in that they are not treated with gibberellic acid or "gibbed", as most grapes are in both the organic and conventional markets. Gibberellic acid-3 is a commercially produced plant growth regulator (i.e. growth hormone) which is sprayed on seedless grapes to increase grape size and yield. Marian Farms believes that grapes should be eaten in their naturally delicious state, as they were when William Thompson introduced this now popular variety to California. Unlike other grapes on the market, Marian Farms believes biodynamic practices contribute to the rejuvenation of one's spirit, body and soul.

Pack: Grapes are packed in earth-friendly paper tote bags, each holding approximately 2+ lbs. There are 7 totes to a case - approximately 17 lbs per case. To ensure high quality, all of our grapes are picked to order and shipped ASAP in refrigerated trucks.

Serving Suggestions:
A delectable bunch of grapes makes an unbeatable dessert. For the finest bouquet, remove from the refrigerator one hour before serving, and rinse with cold water, and snip into portion-size clusters for easy eating. Marian Farms' Thompson Seedless grapes will also enhance a mixed fruit salad. For a nourishing snack or breakfast, add them to your yogurt, or cold or hot cereal.

Looking to cool off during the hot summer months? Try frozen grapes, a fun, refreshing snack! Just pull grapes from stems, place them on a tray, and freeze until hard.

Marian Farms' grapes will compliment any poultry, or mild-flavored fish, especially when cooked with wine. Just before serving, add grapes to the pan and sauté or simmer until the grapes are heated through. Thompson Seedless grapes are also delicious when added to chunky chicken salad, pasta, grain salads or coleslaw.

Distilled Spirits
Marian Farms is a quality producer of Demeter-certified high-proof distilled spirits (ethylene alcohol). This product is distilled from top quality white wine produced from the finest grapes.

Ethylene Alcohol
To ensure that your product will be of the highest quality use Marian Farms biodynamic ethylene alcohol -our alcohol is the perfect base for quality perfumes, oils, tinctures and body care products.

Why choose Marian Farms grape alcohol?
Marian Farms uses the finest biodynamically-grown grapes as well as superior distillation produces. Marian Farm's alcohol is made from superior grapes that meet quality wine standards. All of our spirits are distilled in a top quality copper still by a master artisan distiller. The combination of quality raw materials and quality distillation makes for an outstanding alcohol. Unlike most other alcohol that is processed in an industrial still made of stainless steel, our still is made in Germany from handcrafted copper. The industrial still is designed to remove all of the character of the raw material (grape/grain), and what is left is lifeless alcohol. We believe the "etheric life" or vitality of the plant is resonant in the character of the grape. This is especially true with Biodynamic agricultural practices. When our wine is distilled, what is produced is the "spirit of the fruit" and not simply "alcohol spirit". Thus we believe that our "spirit of the fruit" will enhance the vitality and life force of the fine dietary, or pharmaceutical product.

Pack: 6-gallon container and 50 gallon drums.
